Being a Market Town, Wirksworth has a good range of shops for most immediate needs. There is a market held in the Square at the bottom of West End every Tuesday. Hatbox is closer to the amenities being at the upper end of West End, whereas Wash Green is a bit further away, being on the other side of the Town, but still strollable, with a bit of a hill to overcome on the return journey.

Surprisingly, Youlgreave boasts 3 pubs, all of which serve food. The George sits opposite the Church and has a reputation for the calibre of its ale and take away fish and chips. The Bull's Head is in the heart of the village at Fountain Square and has four separate rooms for dining and drinking, with a good all round wholesome menu that is good value. The Farmyard has a busy bar and separate first floor restaurant where the steak is valued by many of our Guests. For a broader range of restaurants, Bakewell has innumerable shops serving all day breakfasts, teas and snacks, together with several well thought of Restaurants. A little further afield, Charlie's Bistro at Baslow is highly regarded, as is Quatorze in Ashbourne. Further establishments may be researched by clicking here.
